( votes)Pho91 is a Vietnamese eatery in the neighbourhood De Pijp in Amsterdam. Unlike Xinh (in Jordaan neighbourhood) a Vietnamese restaurant which closed down sometime ago, Pho91 is a casual informal dining place.
With just a few tables, minimalist decor and small menu Pho91 serves a delicious Pho Bo.
Since the location is very “strategic” (read: Albert Cuyp) I would just pop into the shop for a bowl of Pho Bo after doing grocery at Albert Cuyp market. This is one of the few places in Amsterdam when you are alone, you do not feel awkward to dine by yourself. Also one of the few eateries that are not too expensive here. Just don’t go on Monday, they are closed.
My favourites: Pho Bo noodle soup, Goi Cuon (fresh summer rolls), Canh Ga Chien (crispy fried chicken wings drizzled with caramelized fish sauce) this dish is sweet because of the caramelized sauce, Cha Ca (fish cakes) and desserts grilled banana with coconut milk.
Pros: Good price, cheap if compared among the restaurant prices in Amsterdam, delicious comfort food, vegetarian dishes available.
Cons: No reservations.
