My all time favourite seafood place in Amsterdam. The Seafood Bar. What I like about this place is not just the freshness of the seafood but the buzzing of the place. Casual dining with good ambience, good service and of course the food too. The cold starters are great to start with for 2 persons with oysters and different types of shells, the chefs menu is something that I love to order for 2 persons (it’s a huge plate) as a main course it comes with different fishes, lobsters and whatever the chef wants to put on your plate on that day. It’s a surprise menu. Food is very delicious. They serve their fishes in delicate sauces, such as monkfish in lobster sauce yummy. Even the vegetables are dabbed in some gravy like sauce or oyster dipping such as spicy sour shallots vinaigrette. All their main course comes with a bowl of salad and fries. I’ve been coming back to this place a couple of times and bringing friends too. For lunch, this is a great place to order their sandwiches. Did I mention the huge club sandwich and the huge plate of calamaris? Before you order make sure you are hungry or go with a friend 🙂
Pros: Lively ambience. Good service. Good food. Friendly. Touristic spot close to Rijksmuseum. The restaurant has this unDutch feeling that makes me feel I am in a restaurant outside of Netherlands not because of the tourists that visit the place but the unpretentiousness. Good price quality.
Cons: Always busy. Do call to make reservation for up to 4 persons. Cannot make reservation for bigger group. Walk in is possible if there is an empty table.I notice it is busy from 6.30pm-8pm.
